“How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live.” Henry David Thoreau

So... Things have been a bit crazy here lately - that's why there aren't any updates but song lyrics and Mail Call posts. Sawyer had some health issues,  we had to cancel vacation, I'm nearing the end of my rope and I'm WAY behind on posts.

I've been struggling with my mental health, and I think I've finally decided to see a therapist, but before I go that route I want to talk to my primary doctor about upping my anti-depressants. I also need to schedule appointments for Physical Therapy for my hips and shoulders. I just haven't found the time yet.

Sawyer got really sick the week before Cape Cod, and it only got fully resolved after repeated visits to urgent care and his primary doctor. He's now on Protonix (an acid reducer) twice a day. He was scoped (upper GI) and they only found a slight irritation of his stomach lining. We're waiting on results of the biopsies (which the doctor said are routine, they weren't done because they saw anything bad), which should be in next week. He just found out that he's got issues with dairy - which sucks because he's a cheese lover. We're waiting on results from his Celiac testing.

We had to cancel vacation because of his sickness. There was no way we could go to Cape Cod with the way he was feeling. I spent most of Saturday (July 19th - my 31st birthday) crying. We spent a lot of time at home, had Dude & Princess's teeth cleaned (Dude has resorption of one of his teeth - the crown and roots are gone, and the rest of the tooth is on it's way to gone), went to the Air & Space Museum in Dulles, the Ward Museum, Delaware Seashore National Park, bought a new version of Ticket to Ride (Nordic Countries), and watched too much Futurama on NetFlix. I'm sad that we missed Cape Cod, but sort of glad in a way - it sounds like K & D sort of ran the show, and so they didn't get to do a lot of what we normally do. (I'm not trying to bad talk K & D - they're babies, and they have needs and schedules - it's just the way life with babies is.) Hopefully, we'll get to go in 2 years, and K & D will be tons more fun then. We did make it out for fish & chips though. That was my one "requirement" about missing vacation - we had to have fish & chips. We went to Glory Days on my birthday which cheered me up quite a bit. We had quite a few 'this feels like / reminds me of Cape Cod' moments which were bittersweet. We saw a car from Massachusetts, drove on roads that felt like Route 6 on Cape Cod, got ice cream, played Ticket to Ride, and went to a new bird store.

I've been getting annoyed with Zales Jewelry. We sent Sawyers ring out to be re-sized last month, and, because it's tungsten, it can't be re-sized - you have to special order a new one. When it came back it was the COMPLETE wrong ring - it was silver instead of tungsten. We sent it back out on July 4th and it's STILL not back! The first ring (the wrong one) came back after 2 weeks. That seemed fast, but I wasn't told how long it would take, so I thought that might be normal. When we sent it out again they said it could be 4 weeks. I called last week, and they said it can be up to 6 weeks, but that it should be in next week (this week). Here we are on Friday morning and no call from the jewelry store. I know that it takes time for special orders, but don't tell me a different time every time I talk to you! I have a feeling that they don't carry or make that style anymore, but won't just say that! If I don't hear from them by 4PM I'm calling again, and this time I may just raise a little hell.
(Edit : 8/8/14 : 4:54PM - I called the store and it's STILL not back. The manager said that all of his orders from early July say "in transit" but none of them have come in. I posted on the Zales Jewelry FaceBook page, and emailed corporate through their website. On the FaceBook page a woman posted that it's 6 weeks before her wedding and her order isn't in yet - isn't that just disgusting? I checked the website to see if Sawyer's ring is still available on there, and I can't find it!)

We're supposed to visit the Baltimore Aquarium tomorrow with our friend, A, from high school, and her family, but she's heavily pregnant and could go into labor at any time (literally! She texted me Wednesday to say she's 10% of the way there). Even if A and her family can't come (because their new little one is on the way) Sawyer & I are planning to go. I hope that A and her family can come. I've been looking forward to seeing them again, and I know their little boy would love the aquarium!

All of that to say - I'm getting to the end of my rope.
