My favorite quote used to be “To be great is to be misunderstood” by Ralph Waldo Emerson. I liked this quote because I was in high school and was QUITE misunderstood.
The quote that “fits” me now is from Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. “Where we’re standing now, in the ruins, in the dark, what we build could be anything”. It’s spoken as the very last line in the book by the main character. When I found that quote, my father had just passed away and my identity crisis started. I was in the dark and from that point I could do anything with my life. I could reinvent myself. I haven’t yet, but I’m working towards it.
