Sawyer and I saw Brave this past Sunday. I really enjoyed it. We'll definitely be buying it when it's released on DVD. I was quite annoyed by the little boy behind us - he didn't seem old enough to be in a movie theater. His parents didn't seem to care that he kept talking - before I get called out for this I'm _not_ saying that kids shouldn't go to movies - I'm saying that the kid needs to be prepared to sit quietly (or semi-quietly) for over an hour. I told Sawyer that if we ever do have kids they will _not_ go to movies in theaters until they can sit quietly for a while. I think it's fair to expect kids to be able to understand that they can't talk loudly during the movie - that they have to whisper if they want to talk - or ask to leave if they can't sit still. It's not fair to the other kids in the theater to have the movie "ruined" for them by a (loudly) talking kid. Also - the kid on Sunday dropped popcorn on me!
None of the previews looked too promising. Sawyer said that ParaNorman looks interesting, but I'm not sold. We'll see I guess.

Dude and Princess went to the Vet on Saturday. They weren't too happy about it, but are both very healthy. The vet asked a few questions that made me nervous, but then she followed up with good news. (Example: "How long have Dude's eyes been different colors?" "Forever." "OK! Then there's no problem!"... and "Cat's eyes will sometimes dilate to different sizes - no brain tumors!" - in that case - WHAT THE HECK!?! The way the vet worded it had me terrified for a minute! "Have you noticed Princesses eyes dilate to different sizes? That's not a big deal in cats like it is in humans!" would have been less heart-attack triggering.
In the end we came out with good reports (our vet gives "report cards"), a _large_ bill, and appointments to have their teeth cleaned when they are boarded. That will be another high bill, but if it keeps the kids healthy then it's money well spent! I love my kittens too much to lose them to something that I can prevent. I know we're so lucky to be able to afford to give them their shots yearly, and I'm grateful for that.

Sawyer is in the process of building two dry stack stone walls in our backyard. He's taken quite a few days off of work to work on them, but the heat and humidity have kept him from getting as far as he'd like. We'll keep working on them until they're done, and I'm positive that they'll look awesome when they're done. Sawyer has been a little annoyed with the progress as this is the first time he's done something like this, and he thinks that what he's already done looks "like crap" - which is so untrue. I think it's harder than he thought, but we're working together to make sure it's done right. We have 17 _tons_ of stones in our yard and driveway! It's pretty impressive.
When we bought the stone the men at the stone store said that we'll be saving a lot of money doing it ourselves, and I can see why. The digging was the worst for Sawyer. There have been times that I've thought we should just cave and hire someone to finish it up, but I'm glad we haven't yet. The guy at the store said that most of the cost of hiring someone is the labor - the stone is the cheap part. (If _that_ was cheap, I don't want to know what the cost of the labor would be!)
Great News about your sleep study results, but I'm sorry it didn't give any answers as to why you're tired. I hope limiting the caffeine and taking vitamins helps, let me know :)
ReplyDeleteI want to see Brave! And I agree that kids shouldn't go to the movies until they are mature enough to sit quietly.
I'm glad the vet visits went well, but I would be freaked out by the way they worded their questions too! My babies don't go to the vet near as often as they should, unfortunately it's just too expensive.
You should so post photos of the finished stone walls, it sounds like it's going to be great, and I think it's awesome that you are doing it yourselves!
Miss you sweetie..I can't believe your birthday is next week!!
