What's Eating Gilbert Grape - very moving. I adore Gilbert (Johnny Depp), and Arnie (Leonardo DiCaprio). I'm not normally a fan of "chick flicks" but I think this one goes above and beyond "chick flick". It's along the lines of Sling Blade to me - it's more than emotional (which is what I associate with "chick flick") and dives right into psychological. It's easy to get caught up in the characters and forget they are _just_ characters. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Arnie very convincingly, and sometimes it hurt to watch him interact with other characters because it just felt so _real_.
The McVeigh Tapes: Confessions of an American Terrorist - Very interesting and informative. This video really proves just how cold and calculated Timothy McVeigh was. I always hate admitting that I watch/read/listen to these sorts of things (I'm afraid my front door will be broken down by the FBI as a potential terrorist), but the psychology of serial killers/terrorists always interest me. I've read up on Columbine, Waco, Oklahoma City, and more, and I always find it fascinating. I will watch/listen to these tapes again in the future. (I also find his "Groundbreaker in a new suicide by cop" comment quite telling - I don't think he wanted to die for his crime, but I think he's puffing himself up by saying that so that it wouldn't sound so bad to him.)
Where the Heart Is - This may be one of the only chick-flicks I can tolerate. I adore Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd, and this movie shows the depth of their acting abilities. This is one movie that I can watch over and over.
House on Haunted HIll - Old and black and white!
Exit Through the Gift Shop - Very interesting documentary about Street Art. I ADORE graffiti and street art! There was a newspaper headline shown that said "Is street art real art?" (or some such). YES - street art is art! Sawyer's art "nerd" cousin is into Banksy so - in my mind - it's definitely art. I did get annoyed when Theirry Guetta started to "mass produce" street art. _That's_NOT_the_point_! (But now that I'm reading more about it I'm starting to think I don't _get_ it.)
Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey - Incredibly moving and inspiring. Kevin Clash is an amazing muppeteer, and an _AMAZING_ Elmo! I never really cared for Elmo (I found him quite annoying), but now I see him in a different light, and he's now one of my favoriet muppets - just from watching this documentary!
So - as you can see - I've watched _a_lot_ of movies lately! A great deal of them have been documentaries, but some are just fluff, or movies I've wanted to see for awhile, but haven't watched them for some reason.

Only a few more weeks until Vacation starts. We'll be heading North again this year for a week in Nickerson State Park. There are so many things that I'm looking forward to, and a few things that I'm dreading. There are people I'm excited to see, and people I'd rather avoid. Places I can't wait to go, and places I'm unsure about.

I've been updating my Alice Reads list. I learned this morning that I already had a copy of The Vampire Lestat (I just bought a copy last month). I _hate_ when that happens. I want to update my book list and keep it with me, so I don't buy another book that I already have. I might start a book blog to keep track of what I've read and what happened in the book so I can remember if I liked it or not, and sell it if I didn't like it. We have _a_LOT_ of books - which is fine, but we're (well - _I_) am running out of space to store them. I'm also trying to get away from physical books, and move towards using Absalom (my Kindle) more.
