Maine - 2009

Sawyer and I spent July 31, 2009 to August 7, 2009 camping in Maine. It was nice to have that time off from wedding planning, and this trip was sort of our honeymoon since we weren't taking one after the wedding.

The campground we stayed at was _awful_. We asked for a certain site when we made reservations, but they didn't tell us that it was an RV site - we ended up paying WAY TOO MUCH for a horrible site. (We camp in a tent, so the site was way overkill for us - as well as having no shade what-so-ever.)

The only thing I really wanted to do while we were there was to take a Puffin / Whale Watch tour. That was a _BIG_ _MISTAKE_ as it was quite foggy out on the open ocean, and a vast majority of the passengers got sick. I managed to hold out though, and I didn't puke! I did get _INCREDIBLY_ nauseous though. We didn't see one stinking whale, but managed to "see" some Puffins and other sea birds. My camera wouldn't focus, so I didn't get any pictures of the Puffins. I want to go back to Maine just to do another Puffin tour! _smirk_

This is our Whale / Puffin Watch boat.

These are the only birds I got pictures of on our Whale / Puffin Watch.

Blueberries at the Nature Center.

Jordan Pond hike.

That white spot at the top of the rocks is Sawyer!
This is the Precipice hike. (Too steep for me!) This hike was actually closed when we got there due to Peregrine Falcons that nest at the top.

End of the Wonderland hike.

I am quite bummed that I don't have any pictures from the top of the Beehive hike, because it was a scary and hard hike, and I made it all the way to the top! My Mother-in-law was quite proud of me though! The Beehive has rung ladders built into the side of the rocks, and they're a little rickety. It was a fun hike though.

Our trip was really good. We had a good time, except for the crappy campsite and the rain! (Yeah - it poured BUCKETS a few times.) We ate some really good food, and really enjoyed the "time off" before our wedding.

As always - these pictures are my property.
