A person who I would consider lower on the totem pole than me didn't do something that they were supposed to. Instead of waiting and asking me about it the next morning - this person _told_ me they weren't doing what they were supposed to do. This person has a habit of grousing about his work being harder than everyone else's, and stating that he works harder, and does more than everyone else - yet he somehow has the time to question everyone else's work. If this person can't do their own job - why are they doing mine?
This person is _always_ like this - always has been, always will be. The problem is that our GM won't say anything to him. The GM hates confrontation, and will just let everyone get away with everything because GM is too afraid to do anything. GM is always being walked on, and, although she complains about it, won't do anything.
GM also likes to "delegate" work to the rest of us - which is fine, _GREAT_ even, but when GM delegates the instructions aren't very clear. For example - I came into my office today with a printout with a sticky note on it saying "Alice - look into this website". What was I supposed to look into? GM always leaves vague notes like that. I need specifics. I cannot work in generalities.
This month is a particularly bad month. There are 2 trade shows this month, and then next month is a big international trade show. That means that GM is gone. Fine - _but_ GM never leaves anyone "in charge". We're all on our own to make sense of things. There is a saying "When the cat's away, the mice will play." I'd swear that saying was written for my office. Any moment that GM and Owner aren't in the office nobody else is. If GM and Owner are at a trade show then there will be _at_least_ 2 people that don't show up, or only come in for an hour or so. It's frustrating.
Another thing that pisses me off is that everyone here knows that I rarely call out. When I'm in the office, I'm here my full 8 hours (sometimes even skipping lunch). Always - no questions. I try to help everyone else out, and make their jobs easier, but they don't do the same for me. So... I'm done with it. I'm done trying to be every one's friend. If nobody likes me, that's fine.
I don't want to find another job - I'm not looking for another job. I _LIKE_ my job - it's my co-workers I have issues with. _smirk_

I just scheduled my Sleep Study. I go in at 9PM on May 26th. Please think of me that night - I really need to find some answers. Although I'm hoping I don't need a CPAP or any other tubed device, I'll take it if it means that I'll feel better.
My sinus/toothache issue is another matter. Dr. ENT didn't find anything there, but he said that perhaps my nasal membranes get irritated - that's what the Nasonex is for. _sigh_ If the Nasonex doesn't help (he told me to give it a few weeks) then I'll make an appointment with my dentist and see if there is anything in my teeth.
I'm sad that I posted comments here and they didn't take :(
ReplyDeleteBeing that it was a few days ago, I can't remember what I said, but I do remember what I wanted to ask, with your sinus/toothache troubles, what are your symptoms? I get random pains in my jaw/teeth, and I think it's due to my sinuses.
I totally feel you on the work stuff! And I say vent away, because with how much you talk in code, I doubt the CIA could find you :)
My symptoms are dry sinuses and an excruciating toothache. Sinuses can caus problems/pain with your teeth since they are so close to the roots of your teeth. I had issues on the other side of my mouth before & I had a large bubble on my gums and my dentist said my teeth were fine-it must be my sinuses. I'd have your teeth checked first (unless your copay is crazy) and then assume it's sinuses. I don't think I did anything to make it go away - it may have been a sinus infection. :/ Sorry I can't be of more help. :)
DeleteI need to go to the dentist anyway, I haven't had my cleaning this year yet, whoops. Thanks for the info. I hope you feel better!
