Friday Four
A collection of 4 things that have been on my mind lately.
A collection of 4 things that have been on my mind lately.
1.) Hiroshima Nagasaki
I mentioned in an old post that I am fascinated by the Enola Gay, but I'm also interested in the bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki as well. I don't believe that we needed to drop atomic bombs in order for Japan to surrender. I'm interested in the details of the decision to bomb, so I checked out a book about it from the library. I hope that it's not too biased to one side or the other.
2.) Getting Organized
I'm getting organized for the upcoming holidays, and trying to keep my head above water with things I want to get done. I finally ordered prints of Sawyer & my vacation pictures. I also bought album refill pages, and - since I was placing an order at Amazon - I ordered the album for next year. Hopefully I can get my bum in gear and watermark pictures so I can finally blog about vacation. I've got my lists ready for Black Friday shopping, and I'm hoping that I can finish 75% of my shopping that day so I can get gifts in the mail by December 1st.

3.) Washington Capitals
I was thinking of asking Santa for tickets to a Washington Capitals game for Christmas. I decided against it because there aren't any games on days that work for us that I really want to see this season. I think I'll ask for tickets to see Allegiance on Broadway for Christmas, and then ask for Caps tickets for my birthday.
4.) Medication
*I see my Psychiatrist today to talk about adding one of the 3 anti-depressants the FDA has approved for treating Fibromyalgia to my current anti-depressant. Actually, I'm not sure if we can add it to my current regimen (Brintellix) or if I have to switch my medication, but we'll see. I'm hopeful that the first one we try will help, but it's not a guarantee.
I've been taking the medication my Neurologist prescribed for my Ocular Migraines for a few weeks now, and I'm not certain that it's working. It's hard to know if it's the medication or diet changes that I've made. I did notice that my episodes since starting the medication occurred when I ate something that I'm supposed to restrict (bacon or Chinese food). I miss bacon the most, but I'd rather not have those spells, so I'll have to keep working on giving it up - well, limiting it. I joked with Sawyer that Thanksgiving dinner this year will probably be aged cheese, bacon, salami, pepperoni, red wine, fake sugar, corn and Chinese food - all things I can't have. _smirk_ I haven't told any family that those things are off limits to me now, but I'm sure that most of those things are just exaggerations (except for aged cheese, corn and possibly bacon).
The Rheumatologist prescribed some muscle relaxers for bad days, but I'm too afraid to take them. I'm not sure that they won't react with my sleep medicine, and I don't know how they'll make me feel. I may try one tonight since it's Friday and if it makes me a zombie the next day I'm only running errands so nobody will know.
