On Friday my Mom got laid off from a company that she's worked at for over 20 years. Isn't that absurd? My Mom will be fine - she always is - but it still stinks. She hated her job, but I don't think she was ready to give it up just yet. She's past retirement age, so she has that option, but I'm not sure what she'll do.
In other family related news : I'm really getting annoyed with my sister-in-law. I feel like she's intentionally leaving me out of planning the "parent trip" this year. She emailed Sawyer, and their parents, but didn't copy me. I'm sure it seems like I'm exaggerating about her doing it intentionally, but I've been getting the feeling lately that she's annoyed by me. I've always felt like she disliked me, and for awhile it seemed to get better, but now it seems like it's coming back. I feel like she's always trying to get me to compete with her over stuff, and I just don't have the energy or care to compete. I want to be friends with her, but the only vibe I get from her is genuine disdain. In fact, she's the reason I never look forward to these family vacation events. I'm not going to make a fight or even mention any of this, but I'm sure it'll stay in the back of my mind for a long time.

Yesterday I met my best friend / sister, C, at Brookside Gardens for a "photography club" meeting. It's just her and I and I really like that. There is no competition between us, and we just hung out and took pictures. There was a Blue Heron at one of the ponds that I took about a million pictures of. He (?) was beautiful, and stood still for so long. It was really neat.

So the Caps' finally win when I'm not home to watch the game! What is _up_ with that? Either way, I'm glad they finally have a win under their belts. Hopefully it keeps them on their toes for the rest of the season.
