On July 23, 2011 Sawyer & I went to Washington D.C. to see Tim Minchin at the Warner Theater. Before the show we decided to visit a few museums. It was _crazy_ hot that day, so we took water bottles with us. When we got to the Air & Space Museum (our first stop) we saw that they had signs that said "No Beverages Allowed". We started to dump our water bottles out, and the security guard at the door yelled at us and said "Don't do that! You can bring water in. We don't want you dying of the heat!" That totally made our day.
I loved the Air & Space Museum, but it felt like we did it "backwards". We always seemed to be entering the exit of the exhibits. It was annoying, but I'm sure that was our mistakes, not the set up of the place. _smirk_
I was excited to see Gene Kranz vest from the Apollo 13 launch. I'm sure Sawyer laughed at me because I'm sure I said "It's just like the movie!" (I _adore_ Apollo 13!) I also liked seeing the "Space Coke", and the model of the Hubble. I LOVED this museum.

After the Air & Space Museum we went to the Museum of Natural History (_wink_). I loved the dinosaurs, but the place was crowded so we didn't get to spend much time in that section. I was excited to see the Hope Diamond, but apparently Diamonds don't impress me, because I found it lacking. (Hilarious!)
I loved all of the minerals, stones, rocks, and all the geology stuff. I especially enjoyed the cooled and hardened magma they had on display. (Volcano Nerd Alert!!) After awhile it was hard to get excited about the rocks, though. Sawyer & I would both like to go back when we can give the rocks and minerals the time they deserve.
We also went to see the birds of the area display. That was pretty cool. I hate seeing stuffed critters, but it was neat to see all of the birds that we could see in our backyard. I'd love to visit this museum again - maybe spend the whole day there.

Next it was time for the main event - the reason we drove to D.C.. Tim was hilarious, and exactly all I hoped he'd be. I didn't get many good pictures because I don't like to "flash" the performer. He performed barefoot - which is sort of his trademark.
He performed all of the songs I hoped to hear, and he was intelligent, and extremely funny. Sawyer & I saw some people leave that didn't come back, so I'm sure he offended some people, but if you're going to see a singing Atheist then you should know what you're in for. _smirk_ He ended the show with Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah, and I chuckled when he said "It's always fun to get a bunch of Atheists to sing 'Hallelujah'!" (He encouraged us to sing along.)
I would _LOVE_ to see Tim live again, and I'd love to wait around to get his autograph next time.

As always - these pictures are my property.
