K&M Wedding - 9/4/11

On September 4, 2011 Sawyer's cousin K got married. The bride is Jewish so there were touches of Jewish wedding traditions throughout the ceremony and reception. There ceremony was really sweet, and I learned a lot about Jewish weddings. The groom's brother's girlfriend (fiancee?) made the quilt for the top of their Chuppah. (I learned that the quilt is a tradition - the quilt goes on the bride & grooms "married bed" and then they bring their babies home wrapped in it. Isn't that cool? My sister-in-law said that she wanted one, and Sawyers female cousin, his cousin, R's, wife, and I looked at each other and said "Ok, but it won't look that good" [The quilt is made by female family members])

The bride wore her grandmother's wedding dress (HOW COOL IS THAT?) which was gorgeous! The groom was walked down the aisle by both of his parents (poor guy looked like they were carrying him to his doom - he looked very nervous!).

The Hora was a lot of fun to watch, and the groom looked nervous again. (I can't blame him!) The bride had a good time as did the guests.

The location was very special to the groom's family. They spend a lot of summers at Lake George. They have a little cabin and some kayaks and they can walk down to the lake. It was a gorgeous day, but a storm did threaten the ceremony. Thankfully, the storm held off until after the ceremony when we were all in the reception hall. There was a downpour with thunder and lightening, but the coolness felt good as there is no air conditioning at their venue!

This next picture makes me laugh because the groom's mom is ready to GET DOWN! She changed into tennis shoes for the dancing portion of the reception - maybe not the trendiest look, but she's a bit wacky and didn't have a care in the world!
